How to Add a New User in Voyager

This guide walks through creating a new login account (user) in the Voyager admin portal.

1. Navigate to Users
1
Log in to Voyager as a user with Administrator access.
2
Click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top-left corner to expand the navigation sidebar.
3
Click My Account to open the flyout menu.
4
Click Users.

This opens the Users list, showing all existing accounts (Name, Username, Email, Access Level, 2FA status, Login type, and Last Activity).

2. Start a New User

Click the green Add User button above the table. This opens the Create User form.

3. Fill in the User Profile
FieldNotes
NameDisplay name for the user
UsernameLogin username
EmailUser's email address
Password / Confirm PasswordMust be 6–20 characters, with at least 1 digit, 1 uppercase letter, and 1 lowercase letter
LoginDropdown — controls whether the account can log in via UI only, or UI and API
Require two-factor authentication on loginOptional checkbox — enforces 2FA for this account
4. Set the Access Level

Choose one of three levels:

  • View Only — can only view devices and device history. No further configuration needed.
  • Technician — select specific roles/permissions for this user (see step 5).
  • Administrator — full access: add, modify, and delete users; set permissions; perform all available functions.
5. Technician: Choose Presets and/or Permissions

Selecting Technician unlocks two additional tables (greyed out otherwise):

Presets — quick role bundles
  • SIM Manager (manage SIMs)
  • Account Manager (manage accounts)
  • Accounts Receivable (view, create, edit, approve, void, and send invoices)
  • Accounts Payable (view, create, edit, void, and apply payments/credits)
  • Endpoint Manager (manage synchronized endpoints for configured partners)
Permissions — granular, individually-selectable checkboxes
  • Send SMS
  • Edit Service Location
  • Change Plan
  • Activate
  • Restore
  • Terminate
  • Network Refresh
  • Suspend
  • View Pricing
  • Add UDFs / Edit UDFs
  • Procurement
  • Manage Watchdogs
  • (additional categories may appear below General Permissions — scroll to review all)

You can apply a Preset, hand-pick individual Permissions, or combine both.

6. Set Visible Labels (optional)

By default, a user can see all subscribers. To restrict visibility:

1
Check Restrict Access to Specific Labels.
2
Select which labels (account/customer tags) the user should be able to see.
3
Optionally check Grant Access to Unlabeled Subscribers if the user should also see subscribers with no label applied.
7. Other Options
  • Disable Automatic Logout — if checked, the user must log out and back in for permission changes to take effect (rather than them applying live).
8. Save

Click Save & Close to create the account, or Cancel to discard.

Alternative: Inviting a User Instead

Rather than setting a password yourself, you can send the new person an email invite and let them set their own password.

1
From the Users page, click the green Invite User button instead of Add User.
2
This opens the same Create User form, with one difference: there are no Password / Confirm Password fields. Just fill in:
  • Name
  • Email
  • Login (UI Only, or UI and API)
  • Require two-factor authentication on login (optional)
3
Everything below that — Access Level, Presets/Permissions (if Technician), Visible Labels, and Disable Automatic Logout — works exactly the same as the Add User flow (see above).
4
Click Save & Close to send the invite. The recipient gets an email to set their own password and activate the account.

Tracking invites: The Outstanding Invites button on the Users page (next to Add User / Invite User) shows invites that have been sent but not yet accepted — useful for resending or checking on someone who hasn't completed setup.

When to use which
  • Add User — you're setting the account up yourself (e.g., a shared/service account, or someone who won't do it themselves).
  • Invite User — the new person will set up their own login; slightly more secure since you never see or set their password.
